Adult ADHD care in Alaska

Glowen Wellness provides evaluation and treatment for adults experiencing symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, including difficulty with focus, organization, procrastination, impulsivity, restlessness, working memory, and follow-through.

ADHD can affect work, school, relationships, finances, routines, and daily responsibilities. For many adults, symptoms are not recognized until later in life, especially when they have developed strong coping strategies or when anxiety, depression, sleep problems, or stress make the picture more complicated.

Adult ADHD is not always obvious. Some people struggle with distractibility or forgetfulness, while others notice chronic disorganization, difficulty starting tasks, inconsistent motivation, time blindness, or feeling constantly overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities.

Symptoms may include:

  • Difficulty sustaining attention
  • Forgetfulness or losing track of tasks
  • Procrastination and trouble getting started
  • Poor organization or time management
  • Restlessness or feeling internally “on the go”
  • Impulsive decisions
  • Difficulty completing projects
  • Trouble shifting attention between tasks
  • Emotional frustration related to unfinished tasks or feeling overwhelmed

An ADHD evaluation looks at more than a checklist of symptoms.

Assessment includes attention and executive functioning, developmental history, school and work history, daily functioning, sleep, mood, anxiety, substance use, medical factors, and other conditions that can resemble or worsen ADHD symptoms.

Structured screening tools may also be used when helpful.

The goal is to determine whether ADHD is the best explanation for your symptoms and whether another condition may also be contributing.

When ADHD is diagnosed, treatment is individualized.

Options may include stimulant or non-stimulant medication, behavioral strategies, education about ADHD, sleep and routine changes, and ongoing monitoring.

Medication decisions are made collaboratively and take into account effectiveness, side effects, cardiovascular considerations, sleep, anxiety, and your individual treatment goals.

You do not need to be certain before reaching out.

If you have been struggling with attention, organization, procrastination, or executive functioning and are wondering whether ADHD may be part of the picture, a consultation can help determine whether further evaluation makes sense.
